The main export markets of AS “HKScan Latvia” outside the Baltics are Germany and Poland, but products with different brands are produced for both Estonian and Lithuanian markets. In accordance with this goal, the company also planned investments last year and developed new products.

Last year, the meat processing company continued an extensive investment program to expand the frozen product production workshop at the Jelgava plant. As part of the investment plan, a new forming and packaging line for frozen products was purchased, as well as expansion of the freezer. The company has purchased land next to the Jelgava production plant in an area of ​​approximately 10ha, which will provide an opportunity to develop business in Jelgava in the future.

In 2022, AS “HKScan Latvia” achieved production records in terms of product volumes in such categories as marinated and fresh chicken meat. In 2022, one of the fastest growing brands in the fresh and marinated meat segment was “Tallegg”.

It was the 100th anniversary year of the “Rīgas Miesnieks” brand. The company, celebrating this event, changed its brand identity and created a new brand slogan “Good, Better, Best”. The change in identity was also appreciated by consumers, as a result of which the “Rīgas Miesnieks” brand was the fastest growing brand in the category of processed meat in Latvia,” stated AS “HKScan Latvia” “.

Last year, AS “HKScan Latvia” moved its logistics functions from the logistics center in Riga to the unified Baltic logistics center in Estonia, near Tallinn. “The common Baltic logistics center provides the entire Baltic market, offering customers faster and more flexible logistics services,” AS “HKScan Latvia” emphasized in its management report.

This year, AS “HKScan Latvia” will focus on reducing costs, improving productivity in production and optimizing the product portfolio, responding to changes in consumer purchasing and food consumption habits. “The company plans to continue to increase sales of poultry meat and poultry products in 2023. In the segment of processed meat and ready-made meals, the company plans to focus on increasing the added value of products. One of the goals is to increase the amount of ready-made meals and dishes,” AS stated in the management report “HKScan Latvia”.
