If you look up on a stroll in Dijon (Côte-d’Or), you will undoubtedly see small Lego figures above certain street signs. Since November 2020, M’BricK from Dijon has been manufacturing small sculptures with plastic bricks that it sticks everywhere in the Burgundy capital. A first example rue Guillaume-Tell, right next to the station. “There you have an iPhone of all colors, in reference to the apple in the tale“, describes the street artist. It is superimposed on an arrow, another reference to the Swiss hero.
The origin of the idea: a ride or a joke
To make his sculptures, the idea came to him in two ways. “_Now I walk around a lot with my head in the air_. So the more it goes, the more I take notes. I take pictures, I do sketches at home and then I write small scenarios. And one day there is one that emerges, there are the colors that arrive and the design with them.”
The other way to conceive of these small sculptures is by making jokes or puns with the names of the streets of Dijon. In rue Musette, M’BricK made a replica of accordionist Yvette Horner and Michael Jackson. Another fruit of his imagination, he made a replica of P’tit Biscuit, a gingerbread Shrek character, next to the Mulot et Petitjean store.

The Dijon resident pampers his creations at night, after work. “I can go to bed very late without seeing the time go by because time flies so quickly and I say to myself: “we should go because I am working tomorrow”“, smiles the forty-something. But that’s not a problem, passion takes precedence, explains the artist.
“This is what makes me delirious, this is how I express myself best“, says the artist for whom it all started with a painting by Marilyn Monroe.
