BlueDot is a Canadian company made up of physicists and programmers who have developed artificial intelligence associated with a data platform. The idea of this ultra specialized AI is to predict the global spread of infectious diseases and thus anticipate epidemics.

It is by drawing its information from Big Data that the AI analyzes the data, cross-checks the information and makes estimates by taking into account a set of present factors, but also by basing itself on past and documented situations. AI uses all the data available on the WEB, including information related to flight plans to help predict how the disease will spread.
And BlueDot’s AI had been right about the Coronavirus long before the WHO worried about it. The algorithm thus sounded the alarm and predicted a global epidemic 10 days before the WHO and specialists did not really worry about the situation. The AI informed of the risks on December 31, sharing a propagation pattern which was later confirmed.
BlueDot shares its results with public health authorities in ten countries, hospitals and airlines to help them react more quickly.
Unfortunately, it is unclear how wrong BlueDot’s AI may have been in the past as well, the figures for AI effectiveness are unknown at this time, and that’s probably why health authorities have not taken more account of information shared by Canadian society.
Currently, the spread of the virus continues with the discovery of infected cases returned from stays in China. Baltimore researchers have put together a world map that shows the propagation in real time.
The idea here is not to fuel the fear of users, but rather has an educational purpose: it is a question of providing a tool allowing the public to better understand the epidemic phenomenon. Data are collected from various sources including WHO.
