Army Chief of Staff Dismantle Allegations of Corruption in Army Education Fees

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), General Andika Perkasa revealed the alleged misuse of the budget in two educational institutions of the Indonesian Army (TNI)TNI AD).

The two institutions are Infantry Non-commissioned Vocational Education (Dikjurbaif) and Infantry Enlisted Vocational Education (Dikjurtaif) Phase II FY 2020.

This was revealed in a KSAD staff meeting regarding the report of the TNI AD Monitoring and Evaluation Team (Waseb). In part of the meeting which was uploaded to the TNI AD YouTube on Thursday (5/8), the Wasev Team found irregularities in every Training and Combat Education Depot (Dodiklatpur) in all the main regiments of the Kodam (Rindam).

To Andika, the Wasev Team reported that the alleged criminal acts of corruption in education money started from cutting student salaries, cutting food allowances, and increasing the budget that was deliberately used for personal interests.

However, the uploaded meeting fragment did not mention the amount of the misused budget. Including the parties involved in the case.

Andika requested that the money that had been used for personal purposes be returned immediately via bank transfer. He has also prepared a threat of punishment to the perpetrators in the form of military sanctions.

“Anyway, all money must be returned. If it has been returned, we must have proof, it has been returned by transfer,” said Andika, Thursday (5/8).

“This punishment is not a crime, it is discipline. The minimum military disciplinary punishment is a reprimand,” he added.

Andika said criminal penalties would be imposed if the perpetrators did not immediately return the money that had been used. In addition, he will also rotate or transfer the members involved in the case.

“This penalty plus moving. So I want each Kodam to rotate. Slim rotates,” said Andika.
