Argentina national team refuse five-star hotel facilities during World Cup 2022 in Qatar and chose to stay in student dormitories.
The Argentina national team arrived in Doha, Qatar on Thursday (11/17) evening. After arriving at Hamad International Airport, Doha, Lionel Messi and his friends did not go to the five-star hotel that teams participating in the 2022 World Cup usually receive.

The surprising decision was made after the AFA deemed a large area of the campus would allow the Argentina national team to perform asado while in Qatar. Asado is a traditional barbecue technique that is one of the customs of the Argentine people.
A special barbecue area has been set up in the university area for Argentina players and national team officials to consume the asado. This will allow the Tango team to enjoy a variety of steaks and sausages, especially beef, which will be cooked in the traditional Argentine way.
“We have visited the campus several times and we chose it because it not only has great facilities but also has an open space for the asado. This is very important for the players and for Argentina in general, it is part of our culture “said the AFA source
“We want to make players and managers feel at home in Qatar and the best way to do that is to make sure they feel at home while they focus on football,” the source continued.
The Argentine national team is in group C of the 2022 World Cup with Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland. Argentina will play its first match against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday (22/11).
