Are you coming back from abroad or are you going to pick up someone at the airport? Two weeks of quarantine recommended

Following new decisions taken last night at the Federal Coordination Committee faced with the coronavirus epidemic, a new directive has been adopted concerning the rules applicable to Belgians and to other residents of our country who return by an airport: at first, the crisis center indicated that these people, as well as people who passed through an airport to go should now be quarantined at home for 2 weeks, as well as those who went to pick them up at the airport.

This means that even if they were employed in a so-called “essential” sector, they are not allowed to go to work. They are only allowed to telecommute.

Later that day, the crisis center upgraded this two-week quarantine requirement and says it is now a recommendation.

However, it should be noted that Charleroi airport is now closed and Brussels Airport expects by the end of this week to accommodate only 5% of scheduled passenger flights, both on arrival and departure from Zaventem.

The planned passenger flights continue to fly, but they only serve to repatriate Belgians from abroad or to transport foreigners returning to their country.

This means that the number of people potentially impacted by these recommendations is currently more limited.
