Ardéchois Clément Grenier takes stock

While his Rennes team will face his training club, Lyon, this Saturday (9 p.m.), Clément Grenier came back at length in Team columns on his Breton adventure and his career in general.

On the field in the last six matches with Rennes, the Ardéchois finds the light after being discarded at the start of the season. “I have always been ready, I did not doubt too much. There, the pace is back very well and I hope to help the team to re-qualify for Europe,” he explains.

The French international (5 caps) also evokes his long injury (pubalgia) of 2014 and the staphylococcus aureus that had resulted. “When you find yourself on a hospital bed and you don’t know if you will be able to walk again, it’s much harder than when you are sitting on the bench or in the stands,” he confides. An episode that made him miss the 2014 World Cup with the Blues.

At the end of his contract in June, Clément Grenier does not yet know what his future will be like but already has some ideas on the end of his career and even his retraining. “I want to make the most of it, maybe another 6, 7, 8 or 9 years of football. We don’t know when it will end anyway. After that, I would like to train but I’m not focused there yet. -above.”

The player who celebrated his 30th birthday on Thursday does not forget viticulture, one of his passions. “I am lucky to be born in Ardèche and I have family and friends in wine,” recalls Grenier, who planned to celebrate his birthday with “a Côte-rotie from my home, Maison Lafoy”.
