ARAGÓN.-Zaruk’s Sephardic music permeates Casbas (Huesca) at the EnClaves Festival

HUESCA, 25 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Sephardic music of Zaruk, together with the Gavarnie Ensemble concert in Sesa, has permeated this Saturday the town of Casbas, in the province of Huesca, within the EnClaves 2021 Festival program.

The performance was attended by cellist Iris Azquinezer and guitarist Reiner Seiferth who, on this occasion, were accompanied by percussionist David Mayoral.

The melodies of this duo arise or are inspired by the musical tradition of the Jews of the Iberian Peninsula –Sepharad– but evolve it from classical or jazz to lead it towards new soundscapes that, as Iris Azquinezer has explained, they identify with an imaginary territory, situated in the world of ideas, which they have called Zaruk.

As if they made use of the Kabbalistic tradition or Hebrew mysticism, their art consists in materializing with their instruments the compositions that germinate in Zaruk.

The Cistercian stones of the monastery of Casbas have formed the setting to savor the result of this transit that, with sensitivity and force, offers a sample of dreamlike landscapes. Between piece and piece the interpreters have exchanged comments that have linked the melodies to their roots or have explained the origin and reason for their compositions.

EnClaves, organized by the Hoya de Huesca Region and the Huesca City Council, has the collaboration of the Diocese of Huesca and the European Mind The Gap project.
