In the presentation, the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, stressed that “this is a pioneering initiative in the Canary Islands and that few municipalities in Spain have implemented, a measure that has a direct effect on the economy of the municipality, through its local trade, of more than 800,000 euros “, while insisting that” dialogue and shared solutions are the only recipes to get out of this economic crisis “, alluding to the public-private collaboration of the initiative.
The implementation of the program will help citizens to acquire goods or services in SMEs in the municipality, building community through the support of local consumption and with the particularity that they can be acquired by anyone.
The Councilor for Festivities announced that of these first 375,000 euros foreseen by the City Council that correspond to its budget, 80% will go to the contribution of Consumer Bonds, that is, 300,000 euros, while the remaining 20% correspond to expenses of management and execution of the project such as the web platform, recruitment and communication campaigns, project audit, financial expenses, etc.
The management of the program will be developed through a web platform that will contain information about the program, conditions of participation, recruitment of establishments, and, likewise, the vouchers will be associated with a DNI, NIE or passport, they can be downloaded through the web, on paper or on the mobile phone, and the amount of the vouchers that have been exchanged will be compensated to the participating establishments on a regular basis.
