The small tiles that refer to the apps really do exist. And the larger areas are actually widgets. But users should not jump to conclusions.
If the new Apple operating system iOS 14 comes in autumn, the widgets will probably not be visible there. “You probably have to be patient until iOS 15,” says Prosser in his comment.
An anonymous source said Prosser that Apple is working on an implementation. However, it will probably not be installed in iOS 14 (from autumn 2020). It should only be available one version later – specifically with iOS 15. This operating system will most likely only come in 2021.
Incidentally, users should not only be able to use Apple-specific widgets, but – just like with Android – also see third-party offers on their homescreen.
