Apple releases iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 for enhanced privacy protection

Applestarted offering iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 on May 18. Both are security updates that resolve issues related to privacy protection when running apps.

Commonly resolved issues in iOS/iPadOS include the problem that the “Accessibility” app may bypass privacy preferences (CVE-2023-32388), and the “Shake to cancel” issue in the “Photos” app. (CVE-2023-32365) that deleted photos in ‘ can be redisplayed without authentication, and Siri’s contact information could be viewed from the lock screen by a person with physical access to the device. Applied updates for 38 issues including bug (CVE-2023-32394).

As an update for iPhone 8/X, it addresses a bug (CVE-2023-32419) in which arbitrary code may be executed remotely in “Cellular”.
