Apple fired Antonio Garcia Martinez, former Facebook product manager and author of the controversial “Chaos Monkeys” book, after public and internal calls for removal and an investigation into past anti-women remarks, the edge Reports.
Apple hired Martínez earlier this week to join its advertising team, however, Martínez’s comments in the past have drawn condemnation from social media users and internal employees at Apple.
In a statement, Apple said it highly values the diversity of its team and those who threaten its values would not be welcome in the company.

A petition among Apple employees calling for his dismissal called the previous remarks “misogynistic” and that his appointment “raises questions about parts of our system to be included in Apple, including hiring committees, screening of background and the process of securing our current inclusive culture is robust enough for individuals to endure. “Who do not share our universal values”, according to the edge.
