Inc. announced Camel Apple Music Classical, a standalone app that specializes in the genre, will be released on March 28. After acquiring the Primephonic music service in 2021, the company originally intended to launch a classics-focused app by the end of last year.
He missed the point, but the service is almost here. Instead of being bundled natively in iOS, it will come as a standalone version in the App Store, and access to the app comes bundled with a standard Apple Music subscription, according to thefxeď app.

Classical is often cited as one of the best use cases for spatial sound, giving recordings a greater sense of presence. The app will also offer “hundreds of curated playlists, thousands of exclusive albums, insightful composer biographies, deep-dive guides to many major works, easy browsing features, And much more.”
Apple Music Classical will also stream at up to 192kHz/24-bit lossless high fidelity Apple says it will include “thousands” of spatial audio recordings like Primephonic and will provide comprehensive and accurate classical metadata, a challenge for services that cram all genres of music into One destination, and you’ll be able to search “by composer, work, conductor, or even catalog number, and find specific recordings instantly.”
It should be noted that there will be no native version of the iPad app, and Apple has assured me that Apple Music Classical will not include offline downloads at launch.
An extra effort to appeal to classic fans could help Apple Music stand out as the company continues to try to de-clutter Spotify in subscribed music, and just yesterday Spotify announced a revamped interface that borrows design cues from TikTok and other social apps.
Initially, Apple Music Classical will be an iOS exclusive, but an Android version is “coming soon” according to Apple’s press release. The regular Apple Music service is already cross-platform, so it only makes sense that Classical would follow the same path. It will support iOS 15.4 and later and will be available “all over the world where Apple Music is offered,” though the company says China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan are coming later.
