Apple Introduces New Stolen Device Protection Feature in iOS 17.3 Beta: What’s the Sophistication?

BorneoFlash.com, JAKARTA – Apple has just introduced a new anti-theft feature in iOS 17.3 beta which is expected to be released publicly in January or February. What’s the sophistication?

This feature is called Stolen Device Protection, which will lock a number of important features related to account login and finances which can only be opened using Face ID or Touch ID.

So if an iPhone thief knows the user’s passcode, these features still cannot be used.

This feature will be activated automatically when the iPhone is far from frequently visited locations, for example home or work, as quoted by BorneoFlash.com from DetikInet, Tuesday (26/12/2023).

In theory, a thief who has the passcode will still not be able to access iCloud Keychain, register for Apple Card, turn off Lost Mode, or delete device data, make payment transactions in Safari, and the like.
