Antonio Reynoso, the Dominican who could make history as Brooklyn’s first Hispanic president – Telemundo New York (47)

Brooklynites who cast their vote on November 2 saw four hopefuls for the county presidency on their ballot.

One of them is Councilman Antonio Reynoso, who beat 12 candidates in the Democratic primary in June. Reynoso, who represents the 34th district of North Brooklyn, won the Democratic nominee after 11 rounds of qualifying voting.

In the general election, he faced three rivals: Voices for Change candidate and activist Shanduke McPhatter, Conservative candidate Menachem M. Raitport and Republican hopeful Anthony T. Jones.

All four candidates are seeking to replace Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, the Democratic mayoral candidate.

Reynoso’s parents emigrated from the Dominican Republic and according to the applicant, his family relied on the government for help to survive, such as food stamps, Section 8 and Medicaid.

As a community organizer and now a member of the Council, Reynoso has made his priority range from taking on big developers to protect affordable housing to reforming the NYPD.
