While the pandemic of coronavirus still rife in Europe and around the world, other viruses continue to take their toll. In Africa as in Europe, without forgetting Asia and the USA, several cases of death following viruses, even germs or bacteria do not necessarily make the headlines in a tense health context. For example, several cases of plague have been reported in the USA and China, but also of Ebola in Africa, not to mention malaria.
In Spain, dozens of people have contracted the disease caused by West Nile virus. West Nile virus is a disease that causes symptoms similar to those of the flu, and therefore of the coronavirus. In some cases, there can be serious complications. The mosquito-borne virus has infected several people and caused the death of two of them in southern Spain, according to the country’s authorities. The victims, a 77-year-old man and an 85-year-old woman, died in a Seville hospital.
The disease is present in Europe, but also in Asia and Africa. One of the most effective control methods is the eradication of mosquitoes which transmit the disease.
