Anies Cannot Convey Opinion to Jokowi regarding the Ciptaker Law

Governor DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan admitted that he could not convey opinions or aspirations related to the Job Creation Law to President Jokowi during the Limited Meeting between President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the governors last weekend.

This happened because all information during the meeting was only delivered by Jokowi and the presidential team. He said the governor’s representatives who were invited to the meeting could not convey their views regarding the Job Creation Law which was just passed by the DPR at the beginning of last week

“Regarding the governor’s meeting, all information was conveyed by the President, so we who were present could not provide information. Because the message was like that. We were unable to convey any information,” said Anies. As quoted by Antara, Saturday (10/10).

For information, the DPR passed the Job Creation Law at the beginning of last week. The ratification was rejected by the workers.

They took to the streets to voice the resistance. The rejection was made because workers considered that several points included in the law had the potential to undermine their rights.

One of the issues is the decrease in severance pay from 32 to 25 months of salary. When meeting the demonstrating workers, Anies Baswedan promised to bring his aspirations regarding objections to the Job Creation Law to a meeting between governors throughout Indonesia and the president.

Anies said that the aspirations of all components not only in Jakarta, but also all places should always be respected.
