Anger about corona restrictions: Angry customer fires around restaurant

In the United States, employees are again the victims of an angry customer: a woman is apparently freaking out in a burger restaurant because she feels restricted by corona rules – and injuring four people with gunfire. It is the latest of several violent incidents in the past few days.

A customer opened fire on the staff because the restaurant area in a McDonald’s in the US state of Oklahomo was closed during the coronavirus crisis. Four employees of the fast food restaurant in Oklahoma City, which currently only offers takeaway food, were injured in the incident on Wednesday evening, the police said. The 32-year-old was arrested shortly afterwards. A police spokeswoman told NBC that the restaurant’s seating area was closed to contain the coronavirus.

The police said the woman had been informed that the restaurant area was not accessible. However, she refused to leave the restaurant. Employees then pushed the woman out. She then returned with a handgun and opened fire. Three restaurant staff suffered gunshot wounds and were treated in the hospital. A fourth employee who originally helped to force the woman out has a head injury. None of the injuries is life-threatening.

A security guard was shot dead in Flint, Michigan, last Friday, after insisting that a customer’s daughter wear a protective mask in a store, as required by the Michigan authorities. Three suspects are charged with murder, the CNN broadcaster reported.

Last Thursday, police in Austin, Texas, arrested a man who reportedly pushed a park attendant into a lake, ABC broadcaster reported. The supervisor had previously asked park visitors to keep the recommended safety distance. The Los Angeles Times reported on Monday of a man who had worn a white hood of the racist Ku Klux clan instead of a mask while shopping in Santee, California. The man removed the hood when he was asked to leave the supermarket.
