Andy Dalton will be in post, health permitting

Injured knee in the last game of his family, Chicago Bears quarterback Andy Dalton would not have suffered a serious injury.

That’s what the NFL Network learned on Monday, the day after the Illinois team won 20-17 over the Cincinnati Bengals.

At a press conference, Bears head coach Matt Nagy repeatedly declined to say whether Dalton will be his starter for his club’s third clash next Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

A little later, a Chicago squad representative clarified that the 33-year-old veteran would be in his post if he was able to play and Nagy had misunderstood press representatives’ questions.

Dalton left the game against the Bengals before the end of the first half. He was replaced by Justin Fields, who was the Bears’ first pick in the last NFL Draft.

The freshman completed six of his 13 attempted passes for 60 yards. He was also the victim of an interception and amassed 31 yards with his legs.

Jarvis Landry on the sidelines

For the Browns, wide receiver Jarvis Landry suffered a ligament sprain and could miss several weeks of activity.

The 28-year-old left the clash against the Houston Texans last Sunday after his team’s second offensive play. He did not return to the game thereafter, while the “Bruns” signed a gain of 31 to 21.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski said his player’s health will be assessed “week to week”. This is a heavy loss for the Browns, who already have to make do with Odell Beckham Jr..

Deshaun Watson will not play

Even if quarterback Tyrod Taylor is unable to make it into the Texans’ next game, there’s no chance Deshaun Watson will make a comeback.

That’s what head coach David Cully said at a press conference on Monday.

Taylor suffered a hamstring injury in the loss to the Browns last Sunday. His state of health will be assessed on a daily basis.

Watson, for his part, was not in uniform for the Texans’ first two games and did not participate in any collective exercises during training camp.

Amid a huge sex scandal, the 26-year-old hub is currently the subject of investigations by the FBI, the Houston Police Department and the NFL. Watson is also facing a civil lawsuit for acts he allegedly committed to 22 women during massage therapy sessions.

No charges have yet been filed in this case and the quarterback denies having engaged in inappropriate behavior.
