It was a striking move by Anderlecht in January. Alexis Saelemaekers was linked to AC Milan in order to strengthen himself somewhat in the winter mercato (and money was needed for that).
The versatile right-wing player was initially hired for six months, a construction that would initially yield Anderlecht at 3.5 million euros.
A purchase option was also agreed in the deal. For an equal (w) nice amount, Milan Saelemaekers could take over this summer.
Due to the corona crisis, the future of Saelemaekers at Milan was uncertain, but in the meantime there is again played football in the Serie A and the youth product of purple and white may regularly replace the number 7 in Serie A.
Saelemaekers has been able to convince his club bosses and has now signed until June 2024.
Anderlecht therefore earn a total of about 7 million euros from Saelemaekers, half of that amount thanks to the purchase option used.
