Sports director Max Eberl made an inglorious premiere in the Bundesliga when Borussia Mönchengladbach played at SC Freiburg.
The 46-year-old was the first person responsible for the German elite league to see the red card. Previously, the former Bundesliga manager Sandro Schwarz had only been sent from the edge of the field to the stands in yellow-red by the important decision-makers of the Bundesliga teams at the end of September 2019.
Setback for Gladbach in the race for CL spots
Eberl had complained too loudly about the yellow-red card from attacker Alassane Plea in the 68th minute of the game with the score of 0: 1 from the perspective of his eleven, so that referee Markus Schmidt put red on the bleachers after the tip of the fourth official Timo Gerach relegated. Since this season, cards can also be imposed on coaches and other people in charge in the Bundesliga.
Red card for Rose in the DFB Cup
Gladbach coach Marco Rose saw the red card in the DFB Cup in October for a similar offense against Borussia Dortmund and then had to serve an indoor ban in the next cup game.
