TRANSFERS After just one year, Andy Najar’s adventure at Los Angeles FC is over. However, this was not successful. The website Central America Soccer reports that the former Anderlecht right-back can return to Europe. Zulte goods and, above all, Standard should show interest. But how specific is that?

After several years of bad luck with injuries, Najar moved to Los Angeles FC in the American league last winter. There he only played once from the start and was substituted on seven times. In total, it was only used for 180 minutes. Los Angeles FC therefore decided not to renew Najar’s contract. So Najar is now a free player.

Central America Soccer now reports that Najar may return to Europe. Standard and Zulte Waregem should show interest. Some Belgian websites have now also adopted this report. Logical, because an ex-crowd favorite who should switch to standard? That always makes for discussion. But how credible is this report from Central America Soccer? The website refers to Belgian media as a source, but research did not reveal anything …

From high performer to problem child

Najar came to Anderlecht in January 2013 on the advice of John Van den Brom. However, the Honduran made his debut in August, but later developed into a top performer on the right wing. He stayed that way for three years before a series of injuries struck. If Najar were to sign with a Belgian club (and definitely Standard), he should wear a long-sleeved shirt. At that time he had the Anderlecht logo tattooed on his left arm.
