The abolition of the mouth mask obligation on October 1 was a big downer for Jaimy Catteeuw (35) who runs a mouth mask shop in Ostend. But look, suddenly things are going well again now that the mouth mask is again mandatory in various places. “At the beginning of this month, sales completely fell apart,” says Jaimy.

“Mouth masks were no longer necessary, so people hardly bought them anymore. But completely stopping the mouth mask sale, no, we didn’t think about that. Because we suspected that one day they would be needed again. And look, we are right, it has been noticeably busier here for a few days now.”
Is she happy that the mouth mask is back? “It’s a mixed feeling. Preferably, I would also like corona to be completely over, but it’s good for stock. Just before the abolition of the mouth mask obligation, we bought 100,000 more. We are now going to try to sell everything.”(csn)
