Big clubs have always relied on great goalkeepers. On the Inter side, Handanovic, the captain and one of the best Serie A goalkeepers of the decade. On the other hand Szczesny, Buffon’s replacement with incredible performances, who stands out as one of the best in his field in Italy. Their strength depends on the success of the team (in part).
Samir Handanovic is not in a similar dynamic to his Polish counterpart. Rather on the decline and at half mast on reflexes, he nevertheless maintains an imposing stature and significant qualities although they are gradually diminishing. Considered to be Inter’s weak point this season, he has a lot to show tonight.
Handanovic this season is 17 matches out of 17, 1 but cashed per match and 2 parades per game (38 completed in total). He realised 3 clean-sheets and stopped 1 penalty. First raiser of the team in the device of Antonio Conte, he realized 420 passes (for 85% success).
Szczesny this season is 12 games played out of 17, 1 goal cashed per match and 3 parades per match (32 completed in total). He realised 1 clean-sheet and did not stop penalties. He performs on average 352 passes per match (for 92% success).
In the end, figures in favor of the Slovenian goalkeeper which do not necessarily reflect the consistency and performance in the match of the two men because there is 5 games difference! Suddenly difficult to hold it against the Pole who has to deal with a Buffon who wants to continue to tread the meadow, while on the side of Inter, the competition from Radu does not seem to impress. Either way, Szczesny’s performance seems much more convincing and reassuring.
Anyway, in the goal, there will be a blow to make considering the attackers on each side and it is the one who will shine the most which will allow his team to bring back points. For us the advantage goes to Szczesny without any problem. But a Handanovic in a state of grace… and anything can happen. To be continued this evening.
