Visiting New York in 5 days is possible! By following my schedule, you will be able to enjoy a great overview of the city and see the most.

Day 1: arrival

AFTERNOON – Times Square

  • To make the most of your 5 days in New York, I recommend that you opt for a flight that arrives in New York as soon as possible.
  • Arriving in the early afternoon, you can go through American immigration, collect your luggage and make your way to your hotel. Once you have packed your bags, head to Times Square to see one of the most vibrant and iconic places in New York City madness. You are in the mood!

Day 2: Statue of Liberty and Southern Manhattan

MORNING – Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island

  • Take advantage of the time difference to take the first ferry leaving for the Statue of Liberty. This will allow you to discover the most famous monument in New York and enjoy a spectacular view of the buildings. A great introduction!
  • Continue on to Ellis Island, which tells you the story of immigration to the United States. There too, you will have a breathtaking view of Manhattan.

AFTERNOON – Financial District

Day 3: Midtown and Central Park

MATIN – Top of the Rock, Empire State Building et 42th Street

  • In the center of Manhattan, the district of Midtown brings together a number of must-see places and monuments in New York. For example, you can start your day with an observatory: choose either the Top of the Rock or the mythical Empire State Building. The Top of the Rock offers a formidable view, with the Empire State Building in its sights. The Empire State Building offers a more central view with a more historical component. You choose !
  • If you choose to visit the Empire State Building, a word of advice: tap into the remnants of the jet lag and get up early to take a detour to the curious Flatiron Building. Then head to the Empire State Building.
  • Back in the streets of New York, walk up or down Fifth Avenue, shopping temple and main New York avenue. You’ll see Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Trump Tower, and a host of top brands including the NBA Store.

AFTERNOON – 42nd Street and Central Park

  • End your tour of Midtown with a detour on 42nd Street. During your walk, you will discover Bryant Park, the breathtaking Chrysler Building but also the Grand Central Terminal station and the UN headquarters.
  • If you didn’t have time to see Times Square when you arrived, now is the time to stop by. I advise you to make a foray into Central Park.

Day 4: from Brooklyn to the High Line

MORNING – Brooklyn Bridge and Lower East Side

  • Get up early and head for Brooklyn. I recommend that you cross the Brooklyn Bridge early in the morning, with the sun in your back and the Skyline of the Financial District in front of you.
  • Once in Manhattan, head towards the Lower East Side. Take a detour to Chinatown, Manhattan’s Chinatown. You will also see the streets of Little Italy, where you can easily find something to eat. Then continue through SoHo, a district renowned for its fashion boutiques.

AFTERNOON – Villages and the High Line

  • Head north through SoHo and you will come to the very typical New York villages, the East Village and Greenwich Village. Have a good time in Washington Square Park.
  • Then take the A, C or E metro at W 4 St Washington Square station and get off at the next stop 14 St. You can then visit the Meatpacking district and go up the High Line, a wonderful planted promenade that will take you to in the Hudson Yards neighborhood. There you will see the strange Vessel.

Day 5: departure

MORNING – A museum, Central Park or Harlem

  • For your last morning in New York, why not visit a New York museum? You are spoiled for choice! If you are interested in art, I recommend MoMA, the museum of modern art.
  • If you’re not a fan of museums, or still want to explore the city, you can plan a more in-depth visit to Central Park. Note that you can combine Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the largest museum in New York.
  • Alternatively, head up to Harlem, including Columbia University and the Upper West Side, for a glimpse of other parts of Manhattan.

AFTERNOON – On the way to the airport

  • After lunch, it will be time to return to your hotel and head to the airport. Depending on the time of your flight, you may still wander the streets of New York and see a place near your hotel, such as Times Square or the Financial District.
  • A word of advice: on the afternoon of the last day, avoid going on an adventure in a place too far from the hotel! If you have a problem with transport, you might be late for reaching the airport.
