An airliner crashed dramatically after leaving the runway on landing in Istanbul on Wednesday.
The fuselage of the aircraft, a Boeing 737 of the low-cost company Pegasus, broke in three after leaving a runway at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport made slippery due to the heavy rain falling in Istanbul , according to the images broadcast by the CNN-Türk channel. The first indications also seem to indicate strong gusts of tail wind. After leaving the runway, the aircraft struck the wall that separates the airport from the road. The Boeing was from the city of Izmir in western Turkey. According to Turkish authorities, 177 people were on board, none of them died. About 50 people, including the six crew members, were injured and transported to various hospitals in the region.
Rescuers are still on site, obviously cutting some parts of the fuselage while others are holding a stretcher, which clearly suggests that passengers or crew members are still stuck in the plane .
Less than a month ago (January 7, 2020), another plane from the company Pegasus had already left the same runway (06) from this airport, without causing any casualties, the 167 occupants of the aircraft had been evacuated by the emergency slides.
