Among those evacuated from Kabul to Germany were criminals

3,849 Afghans evacuated to Germany

The planes from Kabul to Germany arrived not only by people in need of help, but also by alleged criminals.

After the seizure of power in Afghanistan by the radical Islamist Taliban, Bundeswehr planes were to evacuate employees of EU and NATO organizations, journalists, human rights defenders and others in need of protection. However, as it was reported on Friday, September 3, in the Federal Ministry of the Interior, in all likelihood, people who were described by the German authorities as “carrying a potential security threat” arrived in Germany in the same way.

To date, it is known about 20 alleged offenders who “due to the fact that they were not checked in Kabul, ended up in Germany,” said the head of the German Interior Ministry Horst Seehofer. According to him, among those who arrived in Germany there are people convicted of violence, as well as convicted of forging documents.

Four evacuees from Kabul were previously deported from Germany – in some cases already several years ago. In addition, according to the dpa news agency, the names of several Afghan arrivals have appeared on the lists of the German counterterrorism center. The two offenders were taken to the penitentiary on the basis of issued arrest warrants, said German Interior Ministry spokesman Steve Alter. Two more Afghans are under the supervision of the authorities.

Criminals were able to use the air bridge to Germany because of an “emergency,” Seehofer said. “Some of them completely forged documents from a to z. And no one had full control over the situation,” the politician stressed, referring to the chaos at the Kabul airport.

In total, according to the German internal political department, after the withdrawal of NATO troops from Afghanistan, 4,587 people were evacuated to Germany, including 3,849 Afghans and 403 German citizens. Among those in need of protection were citizens of other states. The Germans were also taken out by their NATO allies.

Suspicions of evacuees from Kabul are also reported in the United States. According to NBC, about 10,000 of the 30,000 Afghans evacuated to the United States required further verification. According to the channel’s sources, Washington suspects about 100 people in possible connections with “Taliban “ or terrorist groups. The two suspects aroused the concern of the American intelligence services and were deported to Kosovo.

In total, according to Washington, after the seizure of power in Afghanistan by the Taliban, the United States and its allies removed more than 122,000 civilians from the country.
