American actor Tom Sizemore died at the age of 61

This was reported by the AP agency with reference to the actor Charles Lago’s agent. The actor was hospitalized in Los Angeles in the second half of February after suffering a brain aneurysm.

According to Lago, the actor died in hospital on Friday.

Tom Sizemore’s film and television career spanned several decades, but he is best known for his role as a battle-hardened sergeant opposite Tom Hanks in the 1998 war drama Saving Private Ryan, and as a military battalion commander in the 2001 film Black Hawk Down. In 2000, he was nominated for the Best Actor Award for his role in the TV movie Witness Protection. In recent years, however, he appeared more in smaller and low-budget films.

Practically throughout his acting career, Sizemore struggled with drug addiction and had several run-ins with the law. He was in prison from 2007 to 2009 for drug violations. He was convicted of, among other things, assaulting a former girlfriend, and went to rehab for addiction to methamphetamine and heroin. In recent years, he has been arrested numerous times for driving under the influence and for possession of narcotics.
