New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, who had worked alongside Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to lure Amazon to his land, blamed the failure on the company. “We gave Amazon the opportunity to be good neighbors and do business in the greatest city in the world,” he said. “Amazon rejected this possibility”, he added.
Andrew Cuomo, the main architect of the project, does not take off. The project would have “brought between 25,000 and 40,000 well-paying jobs to our state, nearly $30 billion in additional revenue for public transit, housing, schools”, and it would have “enhanced New York’s status as a emerge from high technologies,” he said in a statement.
