The OECD report emphasizes that teachers’ actual salaries reflect statutory pay and bonuses. It is also mentioned that the average actual salary also depends, for example, on the experience and qualifications of teachers.

The report shows that in OECD countries, the average number of teaching hours per year for a typical public teacher tends to decrease with each successive level, from 993 hours in pre-primary to 778 hours in primary school, 712 hours in lower secondary education and 680 hours in secondary education.

In Latvia, teachers have to teach 1368 hours per year in pre-school education, 572 hours per year in primary school, 621 hours in secondary school and 695 hours in secondary education.

The OECD’s annual education report “Education at a Glance 2020” was presented on Wednesday. This OECD report provides annual data and analysis on the functioning and development of the world’s education systems. The report covers all levels of education, from pre-school to higher and adult education, but this year the report focuses more on vocational education.
