All Protonmail apps available as open source

April 24, 2020 –
With the release of the Android version of Protonmail, the Swiss mail provider has published all of its applications as open source.

The Swiss mail service provider Proton Technologies has announced that all available Protonmail apps are now available as open source applications. While the desktop application and the iOS version were handed over to the open source community earlier, the step has now also been taken with the Android app. As the makers say, the code is up immediately Github to disposal. All apps went through an independent security audit, which was carried out by the security company SEC Consult and which did not reveal any security gaps. The complete one Audit report is available for inspection by anyone interested on the Protonmail site.

Proton Technologies and the Protonmail mail and VPN service were founded by CERN employees. The service made the headlines from time to time, be it that it was the target of hacking attacks, or that it was accused of working with Huawei.
