Prince Harry (35) finds encouraging words about the corona pandemic in a video message, which he recorded at home in Los Angeles. “While we celebrate the deeds and victims of the entire generation of the Second World War this weekend, we should have gathered in the Netherlands to start the Invictus Games 2020 in The Hague.” However, in the current situation, the games cannot take place as planned.

Since he was last in The Hague, “life has changed dramatically for all of us,” explains Harry, who shows himself loosely in the polo shirt in the video. The Invictus team did a great job and took care of the changed situation – and worked out plans for the games next year. There will be virtual events to bridge the gap, and the actual competition will then be rescheduled in 2021.

«You can support each other»
Then Harry becomes personal – and talks about how the corona pandemic affects everyday life. He found it “wonderful” that many were in contact with their loved ones via video chats.

“But please look for those who haven’t answered in a while or who don’t show up in the chats. You can manage to support each other, ”said Harry.

Prince Harry launched the Invictus Games in 2014. It is a charity competition in which physically disabled former members of the army compete in nine disciplines, including wheelchair basketball and indoor rowing. The first games took place in London in 2014, the fourth edition was planned for 2020 in The Hague and was postponed to 2021 in the wake of the Covid 19 pandemic.

“Stay at home”
He is also incredibly grateful for the support he has received for the games in recent years. «Take care of yourself and stay at home. We bring The Hague to you, »said Harry’s message.

As early as March, the prince reported on video and regretted having to postpone the games. “The decision has been the most sensible and safest option for everyone involved in the games.”

In late March, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle (38) with their son Archie (1) moved to Los Angeles. Since April 1st, they are no longer officially high-ranking royals. They are currently expanding their charity efforts – and are looking for a home in Los Angeles.
