All of Europe no longer wants french fries

There is almost no French fries business, the German Farmers’ Association has just announced. “The de facto cessation of consumption outside the home practically brings sales across Europe to a standstill,” the association announced. Several French fries processors have already stopped producing or are preparing to decommission.

With the exception of Sweden, restaurants and fast food restaurants are now closed in all EU countries.

Apparently the people who are now eating at home are eating healthier and avoiding french fries.

Potatoes from the supermarket

The Europeans continue to eat potatoes – but more prepackaged than those from the supermarket.

More complicated recipes are also exchanged on social networks and in articles on the Internet. Because people who were sent on short-time work or cannot work because they supervise their children at home now have more time than usual

Some schools also distribute recipes that you can cook with children.

Other children are apparently heartbroken because there are no quick restaurants open.

The farmers in Europe had complained about falling prices for months and also protested.

Are milk and cheese now becoming more expensive?

The farmers’ association also reported that overall there is still a strong demand for storable products such as UHT milk, cream, butter and sliced cheese in the retail sector. Against this background, negotiations on prices between April 1, between dairies and retailers could have been concluded with a plus.

In pork, demand in supermarkets has calmed down compared to the past two weeks. “The consumers seem to have stocked up,” says the market report. In the next few days and weeks, however, more demand for grilled meat is expected. In the case of beef, the usual revival at Easter did not take place, which was otherwise associated with price markups.

Apples are still in demand for fruit – now back to normal levels with slightly rising prices. The supply of the market is expected to last until the harvest from August / September. Vegetable imports continued, currently mainly from Italy, Spain and increasingly also from the Netherlands and Belgium.
