“I remember that I went to live in Almere and went out with my Dutch friends, I did not have them in Amsterdam”, the rapper begins the story about his experience with discrimination. “In Almere you suddenly had Patrick and Joeri and all of them names that I had never uttered. (…) But when we went to the disco it was quite painful – that can still make me emotional – that I was at the door was refused and she was not. ” Ali was not allowed in because of his origins.

Perhaps what hurt the rapper the most is the fact that his friends just went in and left him at the door. “I knew: I have a big mouth, but I am honest and a good person. I can just go in.” According to Ali, the police could not do anything for him either. “He said: ‘Go and file a report on Monday.’ I said, “Monday? I’m being discriminated against now, you have to do something right now.” Then they closed their windows and drove off. “
Out of frustration, Ali then wrote the lyrics to the song ‘Refused’ in the porch next to the disco. It became his second single. “A year later I was booked by the same owner of that disco.”

That song helped lay the foundation for Ali’s current career. Not only is he a rapper, but also an entrepreneur and a jury member. He can now take a seat on the jury of Holland’s Got Talent and he is very happy with that, according to the video below.
