Alerts! Lots of Covid-19 Cases in Europe Exploding

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The World Health Organization (WHO) said there was an increase in cases of infection and death from Covid-19 in Europe and Central Asia. In fact, cases of death increased by 10% over the past week.

In its weekly report, the WHO said nearly two-thirds of all global infections were in the region. The weekly death toll fell by about 4% worldwide and decreased in every region except for those two regions.

Quoted from Euro News, WHO Europe Director Dr Hans Kluge said if the region was again the epicenter of the pandemic.

Kluge warned that the WHO’s Europe and Central Asia region could see another 500,000 deaths by February 2022, if no action is taken to limit the spread of the virus.

Since the beginning of the week, several countries in Europe have recorded a rise in infections and deaths. Most recently, Germany’s national center for disease control said it had recorded a record high new coronavirus case.

The country recorded 50,377 cases of infection and 223 new deaths in a day as of Friday (12/11/2021).

In Russia, new infections and deaths remain an all-time high. Around 40,000 cases and more than 1,100 deaths have been registered daily in the country since late October.
