Alert! Two Minut Residents Died As A Result Of Bitten By Mosquitoes

MANADOPOST.ID—The people of North Minahasa (Minut) must be more vigilant. The fatality rate of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Tanah Tonsea has increased this year. Until mid-May, two residents had died.

Even so, when compared to the previous year, DHF cases had decreased. Data from the Minut Health Office between January and April, dengue cases reached 71 cases. Fewer than in the same period in 2020, as many as 91 cases of DHF.

Head of the Health Office Youce Togas said two dengue sufferers died due to late treatment. Already experiencing an acute stage, just brought it. In fact, both of them are still of productive age.

He said environmental conditions were the main trigger for the development of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which carries the dengue virus. Therefore, the community is asked to be more pro-active in taking preventive measures. Especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. “Even though these two diseases are different, maintaining cleanliness can minimize the chance of contracting them,” he said.

Now, his party is intensifying the socialization with the sub-district to village officials. Meanwhile, fogging is only done at certain points. “The team that conducts the survey first, if it meets the requirements, then it will be implemented. That’s why we expect the community, especially in vulnerable areas to really implement 3M; drain, close and bury, “he said.

Previously, Regent Joune Ganda urged the public to be aware of dengue fever in the current rainy season in Minut Regency, North Sulawesi Province. “Apart from adhering to the Covid-19 health protocol, I continue to remind residents of the threat of other diseases that are also lurking, one of which is dengue fever,” he said.

JG said that currently cases of dengue fever are starting to emerge, and one must be aware of, but also adhere to the Covid-19 health protocol. “Don’t take it lightly, this is very dangerous too, especially in times of transition of weather changes, where this morning the weather was hot and suddenly it rained,” he said.

Although he did not specify the number of dengue fever patients in Minut, JG asked the public to adopt a clean lifestyle. “Therefore, we must really protect our environment, keep it clean,” he added.

The government will continue to provide the best service to the community and hopes for the support of citizens for the progress of Minut in the future. (jen)
