At the hospital center ofAlençon (Orne), the QR code of the health pass is required for visitors and patients who have made an appointment for a medical consultation. The device, applied since August 9, 2021 in the same way as in restaurants, bars, for long-distance journeys and in certain shopping centers is still “In break-in”, explains Ninon Gautier, deputy director of the establishment.
It is not easy to install checkpoints at each entrance to the establishment, which includes many medical services.
A team mobilized from Monday to Friday
To date, two officers carry out checks in the reception hall. “We only have one team deployed every day of the week except weekends”, develops Ninon Gautier. The month of August serves as a test balloon before an expected return of greater attendance at the start of the school year.
This transitional phase applies with pedagogy. It is not about “Refuse access to care”, if the person has not yet received their two doses of vaccine, has not carried out a test within 72 hours or does not have in their possession a certificate attesting to having had Covid-19 for a maximum of six months. In other words, a patient with a serious reason will not be turned away on entry.
“The health pass protects everyone”
For visitors, the hospital maintains a system of two accompanying persons per room. Again, hospital staff are flexible. “It’s about doing prevention by explaining to them that the health pass protects everyone”, explains Sandra Laurendeau, transferred from the archives service to the health pass control post, from Monday to Friday.
Unlike restaurants and bars, ID is not required. “We are not approved to verify identity papers, the control remains simple”, specifies Ninon Gautier. Simple for the moment while waiting for reinforcement. The hospital aims to deploy two more checkpoints soon.
