Liverpool may have been linked to Christian Pulisic only this week, but the Anfield team were told to sign the attacker before he moved to Chelsea.
The Daily Mail reported this week that Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing Pulisic from Premier League rival Chelsea in the summer of 2021.
The 22-year-old, who can also act as a winger or attacking midfielder, is struggling to gain playing time with Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

According to WhoScored, the US international has made nine starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League and has made two starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for Chelsea so far this season.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be able to bring the youngster to Anfield this summer, but he is not the only Anfield-related figure who is a fan of the American.
Former Liverpool star John Aldridge urged the Reds to sign Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund in 2018.

Aldridge wrote in The Liverpool Echo in November 2018: “Christian Pulisic would be a fantastic signing for Liverpool. I know Borussia Dortmund have said they are not for sale in January, but next summer they will only have one year left on their contract.
“I saw him score two goals against us with Dortmund in that preseason friendly in America and he really impressed me. He is a player Klopp knows everything about and has tried to bring him to Liverpool before.
“Pulisic has a rhythm and would definitely fit our style. With the way he picks up the ball and passes to the players, he’s the Coutinho type ”.
Pulisic joined Chelsea from Dortmund in January 2019 and remained on loan with the German club for the remainder of the 2018-19 campaign before joining the Blues in the summer of 2019.
