The Chinese manufacturer TCL has relaunched its mid-range Alcatel 3X smartphone. The new version will be launched in Germany as Alcatel 3X (2020) from September.
Now in its third generation, the Alcatel 3X (2020) again comes with a 6.52-inch HD + display. The front camera is not located in a dot-drop notch, but a waterdrop notch in the center of the display. That’s not a problem, but it doesn’t look as modern as some other current smartphones.

The Alcatel 3X (2020) is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core SoC, which can access either 4 GB or even 6 GB of RAM, depending on the version. The internal memory holds 64 GB or 128 GB of data and can be expanded using a microSD card. There are other differences in the built-in cameras: if the front camera in the 64 GB model has 8 megapixels, that of the 128 GB version has 13 megapixels.
48 megapixel quad camera
The Alcatel 3X (2020) brings improvements compared to its predecessor, not only in terms of memory, but also in terms of the main camera. This comes for the first time as a quad cam and offers a resolution of 48 megapixels in the 128 GB version – in contrast to 16 megapixels in the smaller model. The other sensors, however, are congruent and are used for wide-angle shots (5 MP), macro photos (2 MP) and depth information (2 MP).
Last but not least, the Alcatel 3X (2020) has an even larger battery with 5,000 mAh and Android 10 as the operating system. However, it is surprising and in my opinion hardly understandable that only the less well equipped 64 GB model should have NFC.
Available from September for 199.99 euros
The Alcatel 3X (2020) is expected to be available in Germany from September in the colors Jewelry Black and Jewelry Green. The price quoted is 199.99 euros, which, however, seems to refer to the 128 GB model with 6 GB of RAM. It is therefore not yet entirely clear whether the smaller version will also appear in this country.
