Madrid. Basketball Bundesliga team Alba Berlin suffered a clear defeat in the Euroleague. The German champions lost 62:91 (30:45) at favorite Real Madrid.
For Berlin it was the ninth defeat in the 15th game. You remain 13th in the middle of the table. Alba’s best throwers were Luke Sikma and Maodo Lo with 13 points each.
At Alba, the injured playmaker Peyton Siva was missing in the tenth game in 22 days alongside Marcus Eriksson and Ben Lammers. After a balanced first quarter (18:19), Real turned up. The Berliners only get 12 points in the second quarter. The Spaniards closed under the basket with center giant Walter Tavares (2.20 meters). In addition, the team of coach Aito Garcia Reneses hardly scored any points from a distance. Madrid, on the other hand, found their rhythm and Alba went into the break 30:45 behind.
During the break, coach Reneses called for better defense and more courage on the offensive. But Alba still had big problems to score. Even in the rebound, the problems got bigger and bigger. Real remained the dominating team. At Alba it became clear that the loss of three important players against a top team like Madrid and with the heavy load can hardly be compensated for. So the defeat was clear. Alba still has to wait for a success at Real Madrid.
