Condepp: “Minister Grau does not need spokespersons for the fishing industry”

The Council for the Defense of Fishing Heritage AG (CONDEPP), through its president, Hernán Cortés, has reacted to statements made by representatives of the Fishing Industry, who have put statements in the Minister’s mouth regarding the fact that in the region of the Biobío, the draft New Fishing Law would not substantially modify the division between Industrial and Artisanal.

Hernán Cortés was emphatic when declaring that “The only statements that we consider valid are those made effectively by Minister Grau, Undersecretary Salas and President Boric, who have indicated that there will be a new subdivision that ‘does justice with artisanal fishing’, Therefore, the Minister does not need industry spokespersons”

Likewise, he pointed out that “the need for a New Fisheries Law has to do with correcting the privileges that Industrial Fishing currently has, which were obtained illegitimately.”
