Al Bilad newspaper Bahrain will grow 260 tons of cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers


The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture explained that His Majesty the King’s Food Security Project was established under the guidance of His Majesty the King of the country, and the project will be held in 4 regions in the Kingdom of Bahrain: (Houra) Aali, Al-Diraz Village, and Samaheej Village, and the fourth region in the Southern Governorate has not been identified.

She indicated to the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on Food Security that the project is under the supervision of the Bahrain Agricultural Development Company, a government company affiliated with the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, and the Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company.

The Ministry added that (260) tons of 4 products will be grown through the project: cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce and cold peppers. His Majesty the King’s Food Security Project in Hoora A’ali contains 8 natural reserves for agriculture, on an area estimated at approximately (11,614,000 square feet). ) foot.

She enumerated a number of features of His Majesty the King’s food security project, which is that it will contribute, through the application of new mechanisms for soilless agriculture, to reducing water consumption to (90%). Production will also continue for (10) months, and there will be two months for maintenance, and this will help. The Kingdom will be self-sufficient in these products, in addition to the fact that the project does not depend on the presence of arable soil, as it relies on the hydroponics method, and there will be a designated place for packaging.
