Aivar Riisalu was nominated as the elder of Mustamäe district

The Tallinn Council of the Center Party confirmed Aivar Riisalu, who has previously worked as the deputy mayor of Tallinn and as the elder of Mustamäe district, as the candidate for Mustamäe district elder.

Chairman of the Tallinn Council of the Center Party, Tallinn Mayor Mihail Kõlvart said that Aivar Riisalu has strong background knowledge of the city system and his experiences as a member of parliament, head of municipality, deputy mayor, district head and member of the city council allow him to start working immediately without an adjustment period. “Mustamäe has changed and is developing every year, and the residents certainly have high expectations for the new district elder. Aivar Riisalu is a good communicator, with innovative thinking and action, which is why I believe that the residents of the district will accept the new parent well,” said Kõlvart.

Aivar Riisalu, who was nominated as the district elder, said that the offer to lead the Mustamäe district came unexpectedly, but he is ready for the challenge. “Sometimes it makes sense to go back to where it all started – the threshold of my political career was the position of Mustamäe district elder, and now, years later, I can look at changes and the future with a life-experienced eye. Mustamäe is as old as I am, and I can confirm that life is just beginning!” emphasized Riisalu.

The Tallinn Council unanimously approved Riisalu as a candidate. The candidate for the elder of the Tallinn district must be approved by the Tallinn City Government. Lauri Laats, the previous elder of Mustamäe district, headed to the Riigikogu after the parliamentary elections held in March.
