Airlangga: Credit Restructuring Extended Until March 2022

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that currently the Financial Services Authority is evaluating the OJK Regulation regarding credit restructuring. Credit restructuring can be extended not only until March 2021, but until March 2022.

“So that banking capital needs due to the increase in NPL (bad credit ratio) will not be disturbed,” said Airlangga in a dialogue with Tempo on the theme of Overcoming Pandemic and Preventing Economic Crisis, Thursday, August 20, 2020.

The government also continues to evaluate the stimulus for placement of funds in the Himbara bank amounting to Rp 30 trillion. From these funds, the government hopes that the leverage for lending can be up to three times. Currently, the used bank funds have reached Rp 43 trillion, or exceeding the amount of stimulus provided.

That, said Airlangga, shows a stimulus is needed. He said the government was continuing to discuss with the Association Bank Private National (Perbanas) plans to involve book bank I to book bank IV.

He said the 6 percent interest subsidy stimulus for MSMEs would be extended until the end of the year. The government will also encourage distribution credit super micro people’s business. Later the community can get credit up to Rp 10 million.

“KUR will continue to be encouraged. Mr. President (President Joko Widodo or Jokowi) will also issue a presidential assistance (assistance to the president) in the near future related to a grant capital of Rp 2.4 million per UMKM,” he said.

He said that bank loans are currently guaranteed by PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) and PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (Persero). “So that the guarantee for banks that will distribute the credit is Rp. 5 trillion to finance Rp. 100 trillion. So that the company can carry out restructuring,” he said.
