In turn, Airbus temporarily puts its factories on standby. On Monday, the Force union had called on the management of the aeronautical group to cease activity on French assembly lines and to opt for containment. This morning, “following the implementation of new measures in France and Spain to contain the
Covid-19 pandemic,
Airbus has decided to temporarily suspend production and assembly activities at its French and Spanish sites for the next four days, “said a press release from the aircraft manufacturer.

A decision that comes the day after the new restrictions announced by Emmanuel Macron Monday evening and detailed by Christophe Castaner. According to the company, this decision to temporarily stop production will allow sufficient time to “establish strict health and safety conditions in terms of hygiene, cleaning and self-distancing, while improving the efficiency of operations under the new conditions ”.

Airbus had already asked its employees, to the extent that their activity allowed them, to telecommute, to limit their trips abroad. On production lines, teams were encouraged to work in smaller groups to limit interactions. FO, the majority union, said on Monday that these measures were “insufficient” and that it was necessary to follow what had been done in China in early February on the A320 assembly line in Tianjin.

In the same press release, the manufacturer stated that it “is also working with its customers and suppliers to minimize the impact of this decision on their operations”.
