Aggravated Rape Indictment: Gang Assault & Abuse of Intoxicated Girl Under 14 – Trial Set for April

– Because the rape was carried out jointly and in a particularly offensive way, an indictment has been brought for aggravated rape, state prosecutor Jogeir Nogva informs Romsdal’s Budstikke.

The indictment describes how a gang of boys got the girl heavily intoxicated and that some of them then assaulted her. According to the indictment, pictures and films of the abuse were shared with others afterwards. It was tips about these photos that put the police on the trail of the case at the end of July last year.

Shortly afterwards, five people were charged with sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 14. The three youngest escape prosecution. Their cases have been dropped since all three were under the criminal minimum age.

– The rape provision applies since the girl was under 14 years old. There is no evidence that the rape was carried out with the use of violence, says Nogva.

The case will be heard in Møre and Romsdal district court from 29 April. The court has set aside seven court days for the case.

Aggravated rape of children under the age of 14 carries a maximum penalty of 21 years in prison. Minors cannot be punished with more than 15 years’ imprisonment.
