Again trouble with the S-Bahn in Gottenheim – Gottenheim

Transfer problems.

GOTTENHEIM (fri). Until Saturday, June 13th, the extended Corona timetable applies to local public transport – also for S-Bahn traffic on the Breisgau S-Bahn lines at the Kaiserstuhl. It continues to run hourly instead of half an hour like in March. But even now there are problems with missed connections in Gottenheim.

The railway line between Breisach and Freiburg is single-track, except for the train station in Gottenheim. There the trains can meet in both directions. At the same time, the train on the Gottenheim-Endingen branch line should also be in the Gottenheim station. This would allow passengers to change trains between the two lines.

Due to frequent delays in trains traveling from Freiburg to Breisach, the train to Endingen departed several times a day, almost every day, before the changing passengers could reach it. The Deutsche Bahn then pledged to make travel times to Endingen more flexible to prevent this. However, there are now missed connections, with the result that passengers coming from Freiburg in Gottenheim have to wait almost an hour for the next train to Endingen. A citizen who complained to the railroad describes how the driver of a train to Endingen explained that he had fixed turnaround times in Endingen that he had to stick to, and that the whole schedule didn’t work anyway. The train now said on request that an attempt had been made to make the “schedule-related options” to make adjustments so that there was security of the connection. But only with the last connection in the evening could the train to Endingen in Gottenheim wait significantly longer for delays.
