Again disturbances in Sweden after the burning of the Koran | Abroad

Earlier, the burning of a Quran also led to resistance and riots in Örebro and Linköping. Yesterday eight police officers were injured, four of them seriously. Although Danish politician Rasmus Paludan had been given permission to hold a meeting in Örebro, this caused so much unrest in the city that the police quickly decided to intervene. Warning shots were also fired. Officers were mainly injured by stones and hand-to-hand fighting. Several police cars were set on fire.

On Thursday, a similar meeting in Linköping also turned into disturbances. There, three law enforcement officers had to be taken to a hospital for treatment.

Stram Kurs frontman Paludan has been regularly involved in right-wing extremist actions in recent years, also in other countries. In November 2020, he was arrested in France and sent across the border.
