We are just one day removed from WrestleMania 40 and already we’re witnessing the insane aftermath of one of the greatest main events in WrestleMania history.
Although the Bloodline saga is officially over, WWE is not done with the feud between Cody Rhodes and The Rock. It appears the two are on a collision course for the Universal Championship, but we still do not know when that will be.
There were many questions that need answering, and Monday Night RAW did a great job of answering more than a few. Chad Gable and Sami Zayn will, in fact, fight for the Intercontinental Championship. Liv Morgan has not forgotten her beef with Rhea Ripley. Awesome Truth seems to be here to stay as the RAW Tag Team Champs. It was a great show to help us all cool down from WrestleMania while still getting fans excited for what the future holds.
There were too many questions to answer in just one RAW. However, there are clearly many great storylines to look forward to. Here’s everything that happened in the 2024 RAW after Mania from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
First Match: Fatal 4-Way for a Shot at the World Heavyweight Championship
The winner of this match would get a shot against Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship. Jey Uso, Ricochet, and André Reed were all formidable adversaries in the ring. Reed proved to be the most dangerous competitor out the gate, commanding the center of the ring. The match saw incredible athleticism and fierce battles, but in the end, Jey Uso emerged victorious, thanks in part to a surprise appearance by CM Punk.
Gable and Zayn – From Teammates to Rivals
Backstage, we saw the aftermath of Chad Gable and Sami Zayn’s victory over Imperium. It was clear that Zayn and Gable had great chemistry, but they will not be teaming up. Rather, the two will fight for the Intercontinental Championship next week. The intensity is building, and this promises to be a match for the ages.
Chelsea Green’s Nightmare Encounter
Chelsea Green had some harsh words for RAW general manager Adam Pearce after not being included in WrestleMania 40. She wanted respect and her time to shine. Pearce offered her a chance, but unfortunately, her opponent was Jade Cargill, the powerhouse who defeated Damage CTRL at WrestleMania. Green was quickly overpowered, lasting less than 30 seconds. This loss serves to highlight a rising star in the women’s division – Cargill. Keep an eye on this impressive talent.
Zayn and Gable Show Great Teamwork
After Zayn’s victory, Gunther’s lackeys, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci, entered to berate him. However, Chad Gable rushed to Zayn’s aid, showing brilliant teamwork. Gable’s technical prowess and athleticism were on full display as he dominated the ring. Zayn and Gable eventually emerged as the victors in this match, but the question remains: Will they continue to be teammates, or will we witness a rivalry unfold?
Debut of the NXT Women’s Champion
The NXT women’s champion, in her first appearance on the main roster, competed against Indi Hartwell. With the assistance of Candice LeRae, Hartwell initially gained an advantage. However, the champion, known simply as Perez, quickly turned the tides, defeating Hartwell with relative ease. Is this the beginning of the end for Hartwell and LeRae?
Resentment and Retribution
After Judgment Day’s loss to Awesome Truth at WrestleMania, Rhea Ripley sought revenge against the man who betrayed them, Andrade. Liv Morgan took the opportunity to attack Ripley, but the fight was quickly broken up. This heated rivalry is far from over, and the intensity will undoubtedly continue to escalate.
Awesome Truth Reunion and Challenge
While the tag team of Damian Priest and Finn Balor may have lost the Tag Team titles, Judgment Day remains a force to be reckoned with. R-Truth, a former member of Judgment Day, expressed a desire to rejoin the faction. However, The Miz was hesitant. The situation escalated into a challenge for a tag team title match or a six-man tag team match, with a surprise third member on Judgment Day’s side. The crowd expected John Cena to emerge, but instead, Judgment Day found themselves at a disadvantage. However, with John Cena’s stunning appearance, Awesome Truth and John Cena emerged as the winners in this thrilling match.
An NXT Champion’s Resounding Success
Shinsuke Nakamura’s first opponent after WrestleMania was NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov. The crowd rallied behind Dragunov, who showcased his impressive skills against Nakamura. In an astonishing upset, Dragunov emerged victorious, defeating the former NXT Champion in his WWE main roster debut.
The Rock’s Challenge and Emotional Tribute
The Rock and Cody Rhodes engaged in a heated back and forth, setting the stage for a future Universal Championship match.
