women”, which Al-Sharif did not say.

Al-Sharif responded to the attack, which he claimed by saying via his Twitter account: “I do not know how the word (hot scenes) turned to (in contact with women) … Generally we must assume goodwill.”

He pointed out that the state of controversy that flared up came due to fabricated statements on his tongue, saying: “All the shower (the noise) is due to a statement from a false account. They lied and believed the lie.”

The writer Engy Alaa also confirmed that there is no basis in the statements attributed to her husband, the Egyptian artist, and she said: “There are many false reports about Yusuf circulating … but it was misrepresented.”

She added: “Youssef spoke about the hot scenes and I know a lot of other artists who do not like to do it … Eh, who had to come to the women’s touch of the topic … I give it more frankly !!”

Artists respond

Al-Sharif’s comments elicited mixed reactions from the artistic community in Egypt, between supporters and opponents of it.

Comedian Hisham Majid defended Al-Sharif, criticizing “the people who criticized the Sharif and published scenes presented in some of his old works.”

Majid said on his Facebook account: “All respect for Youssef El-Sharif … an elegant, respectful artist who is tired of his work and respects his audience. All respect for anyone (a person) who is consistent or different with his words, but with respect.”

He added: “You do not like his words. You can not watch his work … You look, break and distort it, on the pretext that you are the lawyer who defends the right to art and freedom of creativity, you remain a deficient person.”

For his part, the artist Karim Fahmy published a picture of Sharif on his account in the Instagram application, commenting on it by affirming his love and respect for his colleague, stressing that he is “sincere, diligent, free in his opinion and respected.”

Artist Aiten Amer also commented, saying that she “was not bothered” by her colleague’s statements, adding: “I do not understand the whole shower for him … it did not harm (his statements), and I believe that it is harmful to his beliefs.”

Among the reactions rejecting Sharif’s statements, a sarcastic response came from producer Muhammad al-Adl, in which he said: “We have finished the application of clean cinema … and we have begun to implement the phase of non-contact.”

But the most ferocious response to Sharif’s comments came from the director Magdy Ali, who said that “the talk about freedom of opinion and expression provoked him.”

He continued: “The expression, uh, you are an actor! … is part of an artwork that has rules and foundations, the most important of which is that the acting is not a reality, but rather its condition to influence scenes.”

Support on networking sites

On social media, though opinions differ slightly, most of the comments were in support of al-Sharif.

A user named “Amy” said in a tweet on Twitter: “Myself, I know the people who attack Youssef El Sharif. They attack him on eh? … He is an offender, a mistake, and he does not say a forbidden need.

She added: “He is the best actor because he addresses the mind and does not appear on inappropriate scenes. He is best known for his morals and a need that can be appreciated.”

The user Abdul Salam Ismail also expressed his support for the sheriff, saying: “The mistake is preferred, the mistake of all people if you do it, and the health is preferable, true if one but what he does. Morality is a crown for everyone who shows it.”

For its part, Asmaa Younis, the employee, reused the answer that Sharif gave during the television interview, in which he said that he adheres to his decision “in order to satisfy his conscience, even if not everyone is satisfied.”

And I published a tweet in which he said: “But you are not able to satisfy all people … satisfy my conscience … the respected international … Yusuf al-Sharif, the world.”
